Linda Stephens, LMFT, RD

I support teens, adults, and couples in learning to love and respect themselves and the important people in their lives.

Overwhelmed by relationship challenges?  Worried about your teen or young adult? If stress, sadness, frustration, or unhealthy coping patterns are taking a toll, I'm here to help. I support my clients in redefining themselves, their relationships, and their lives, helping them to uncover a reality that matches their dreams and ideals.

Empowering Individuals and Couples to Escape Old Stories and Discover New Ones

What story do you want to live out in your relationships and your life? When we are overwhelmed by the challenges we face, it’s easy to forget what we want our lives to look like and who we really want to be.  Sometimes our lives can feel so full of disappointment, hurt, and frustration. Our relationships may feel saturated with conflict, but that’s just one aspect of the story. There are so many other important parts of your story waiting to be discovered.

I work with each of my clients to identify old stories they are trapped in and help them escape to live the stories they prefer. Together we can discover new ways for you to begin feeling better, including cultivating healthier behavior patterns. When we face challenges or changes in our lives, it can help tremendously to have a guide by our side.

In my work with couples, I focus on helping each partner reach a new level of understanding and empathy. Partners can learn to attune to each other’s needs while also expressing their own needs in respectful, loving ways that strengthen their relationship.

A Holistic Approach: Nutrition + Mental Health

In addition to being a licensed psychotherapist for over 15 years, I am a registered dietitian with extensive experience in the treatment of eating disorders. With dual credentials as a psychotherapist and nutritionist, I offer a holistic perspective, helping clients understand the impact of nutrition and lifestyle on their mental health and well-being.

Collaborating to Find Hope and Empowerment

I want to learn your story – who you are, your daily struggles, your dreams, your defining relationships – and help you find hope and empowerment again. We can build on the knowledge, skills and abilities that you may have forgotten you possess to create fulfilling personal stories.  I’d love to be your partner as you do this powerful and liberating work.

I received a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and went on to complete a Master’s in Marital & Family Therapy from Loma Linda University in 2001. I then completed 3,000 hours of supervised experience and a comprehensive examination in order to become a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.  Over the course of my professional career, I have participated in many trainings in various areas of psychotherapy and nutrition counseling.

I have experience working in a diverse range of settings, including residential programs, acute care psychiatric hospitals, and private practice. I have worked extensively providing individual, family, and group therapy for emotionally disturbed adolescents and their families, those suffering from eating disorders, and the geriatric population, as well as individual adults and couples.  I have also served as a supervisor and provided consultation as both psychotherapist and dietitian to a variety of residential treatment programs.
