Scarlett Regalado Sellers, AMFT

HI, I’m Scarlett!

I HELP children, Teens, Adults, Couples and Families to experience healthier relationships and live bigger and more fulfilling and balanced lives.

Are you concerned that you or your child/teen is having a hard time managing emotions, or maybe you just want to feel more at ease, less anxious and overwhelmed by the stress of your everyday life? I am here to help. When you’re struggling with problems at school/work, facing low self-confidence, depressed or anxious mood, or even just acting more irritable, fearful or overwhelmed, working with a professional therapist who truly understands your unique needs can be life-changing. I have the privilege of working with those in early childhood all the way to adulthood, helping them to develop crucial skills they can take with them throughout their lives and turn to when they face new challenges along the way. I have specific experience and passion working with survivors of trauma, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and people who are neurodivergent.

Approach

I take time to learn about my clients' early life experiences to understand how they impact the struggles that clients bring to therapy. I then team up with my clients to identify areas of their lives that would be helpful to address during their time with me. I help client’s connect with their personal values, develop self-compassion, and build skills to improve their relationships with others and themselves to decrease any symptoms that have been interfering with their mental and emotional well-being. I use various methods such as art, play, sandtray, role-play, mindfulness, and parent coaching to assist people in making steps toward the life they want to live. I believe that no person can thrive without feeling unconditionally accepted and safe and therefore I make this my utmost priority while working with clients so they have the support they need and deserve throughout their mental health journey.

I believe that given the right environment, skills, and support each person has it within themselves to navigate all aspects of their world and lead big and fulfilling lives.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

I am a registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (AMFT 133653), and am under the clinical supervision of April Hanig, LMFT, the owner and Clinical Director at New Leaf. I earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from San Jose State University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Sonoma State University. I am currently on the path of completing my 3,000 hours of supervised clinical experience so that I can sit for my final licensing exam to become an independently Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

In my previous roles, I provided individual and group therapy services for survivors of violence in a clinic setting, as well as individual therapy for school-based students facing a variety of challenges — from low self-esteem and depression, to issues with behavior, bullying, and family and relationship conflict. I have also worked as a behavioral therapist providing specialized support for children with social, emotional and developmental challenges and their parents. I continue to participate in training opportunities in a variety of therapeutic approaches. I have a passion for learning about the most effective ways to address the impacts of trauma on individuals and families, foster healthy parent-child relationships, and enhance social and emotional health of individuals from a variety of backgrounds.

REACHING OUT FOR HELP IS COURAGEOUS. I LOOK FORWARD TO HELPING YOU OR Your Child GAIN THE TOOLS NEEDED TO LIVE A BETTER LIFE.
